In 2016, Dr. Barias founded “The Brain Spa LLC” to promote the terminology “brain health” instead of the terminology “mental health”. Dr. Barias believes that many patients are not necessarily focusing on their brain health but rather in other aspects of their bodies. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and also the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.


Dr. Barias is a Dominican born Psychiatrist/MD

Dr. Barias is a Dominican born Psychiatrist/MD graduated with honors in 2002 at Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He served his native country as a General Physician for three years but in 2005 decided to pursue further medical training in the United States. Dr. Barias discovered his passion for the mental health field while preparing his Medical credentials in the United States.

Experienced Doctor

Dr Barias worked for almost three years as Mental Health Counselor in Miami, Florida, then in 2013 completed his four years of Residency Training in General Psychiatry at Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York. In 2014, Dr. Barias decided to sub-specialized in Addiction Psychiatry and completed his Fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center also in NYC. He complemented his medical experience at Queens Hospital Center and Rikers Island Prison-Department of Corrections.

In 2014 Dr. Barias relocated to the state of Florida, primary to the city of West Palm Beach; where he solidified his experience in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry while serving as Hanley Center’s as the Medical Director until June 2018. Dr. Barias specialties are General Adult and Addiction Psychiatry. In addition to any other psychiatric disorders, he can treat any Substance Use Disorder according to the DSM-5. He also provides medication assistant therapy (MAT), including administration of Buprenorhine or Naltrexone (Vivitrol). Dr. Barias believes in other alternatives of treatments including Psycho-therapy, relapse prevention, mindfulness, supportive therapy, group therapy, family counseling and psycho-education. We also offer Genetical testing for medication management and toxicology.

Joanna Peros

Psy.D., R.N.

Joanna Peros, Psy.D., R.N. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Registered Nurse who specializes in the treatment of adults and adolescents with a variety of mental health issues. Her focus is on depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety/panic, phobias, OCD, eating disorders, social and vocational difficulties, pregnancy and postpartum, trauma, aging, grief and loss. Her medical background as a nurse has been invaluable in her work with clients who also have health-related issues. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida, nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University, and her Doctorate degree in psychology from the Miami Institute of Psychology. She has contributed to the nation’s first mental health court during the completion of her internship through Nova Southeastern University at Henderson Mental Health Center’s C.O.U.R.T. Project, a voluntary residential facility. Through this program, she advocated for therapeutic jurisprudence for adult defendants with mental illness. She is a contributor to the Journal of Family Law with several co-published articles pertaining to custody evaluations. She also participated in Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Psychiatry Clinic in Miami, Florida where she advanced her testing and assessment skills. Dr. Peros has worked for the Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County along with seeing patients in private practice for over 10 years. Her therapeutic approach is to provide insightful analysis, while integrating complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized treatment plan, as each client’s emotions and experiences are unique.

Mariel Paralitici-Morales, M.D.

Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Mariel Paralitici-Morales was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She graduated with honors from Universidad de Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Science. She completed Medical School at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico in 2004 and completed another year of US clinical training throughout the Fifth Pathway Program, New York Medical College in 2005. Through 2006-2010 Dr. Paralitici trained in Harlem Hospital Center/Columbia University, New York completing her residency in General Psychiatry. She was recognized Chief Resident of the year in 2010. She completed her training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harlem Hospital Center in 2012. From 2012-2014 , Dr. Paralitici worked in different clinical settings in New York. She was the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Consultant for CFCC (Comprehensive Family Care Center), Montefiore Medical Center, working in the integration of primary care, pediatrics, internal medicine and mental health. In 2014 Dr. Paralitici moved to South Florida and started working with HCA/East Florida Behavioral Health Network until 2017. From January 2017 until present she provides behavioral health services at Foundcare in West Palm Beach, following the “collaborative-integration” model between primary care and Behavioral Health. Her passion has always been working with children and their families. Dr. Paralitici-Morales joined The Brain Spa staff in Nov. 2018, completing the integration of all areas of psychiatry in the practice, now providing a comprehensive approach to the families in Palm Beach County.

Jessica Jeans


Jessica Jeans is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with specialized training in behavior therapy, diagnosis and medication management. She utilizes a variety of modalities to create customized treatment plans for those who struggle with mental health, performance and relationship issues. Jessica received her Bachelor's Degree at Baylor University specializing in Child and Family Development. She has a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University. She was a primary therapist at Anxiety Treatment Clinic in Fort Lauderdale, where she received training in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (EPRT) for clients with severe anxiety disorders. She speaks fluently in English and Spanish. She focuses primarily on thinking, mood and behavior disorders. Jessica uses a customized treatment plan with clients which encompasses self-esteem, identity and other interpersonal concerns as well. She has trained at a variety of clinical settings alongside psychiatrists, giving her the expertise to work as a team with clients, families and medical doctors. Some areas of specialization include: • Evaluation and Diagnosis • Medication Management & Psychotherapy • Crisis Management • Trauma Recovery • Mental Illness • Cognitive Behavior training Jessica has worked in a combination of family settings including homes, clinics and private practice for over 15 years. She developed the Family Reset Program for adolescents and young adults who experience behavior, mental health and/or relational problems. Working alongside parents of young adult and adolescents allows her to teach and encourage as she assists the restoration of the family, both in their relationships and child performance. She has staffed a variety of women's seminars where she became certified to help women encounter spiritual and emotional growth in a community setting. She currently hosts women's workshops in South Florida as well. Her passion is to bring clients more wholeness in life and relationships.
