Nina Chaitlin

Psychotherapist

After studying Psychology, Education and Theater at Michigan State University, I worked for a corporation where my skills were developed in the areas of Public Relations and corporate leadership. I represented the company throughout Michigan and Florida. After a time in Florida, I became involved with Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation. I was trained as a Historical Interviewer, creating documentary films with Holocaust Survivors. This 3 year project inspired me to return to graduate school where I became a Licenced Mental Health Counselor and, eventually, a Qualified Supervisor. I've enjoyed working in private practice and in the recovery field. After several years as a Clinical Director, I am happy to return to the role of Psychotherapist. My position at The Brain Spa incorporates the best of my skills and aspirations. It allows me to work with folks who seek care and treatment with a team approach.

Kai Johnson

LMHC, LMFT, MCAP

I am a 67-year-old recovering addict alcoholic who came to counseling by chance not intent. I was in early recovery and others were asking me (how did I do it? was it difficult? and what is an alcoholic?) so I was answering these questions. I was very comfortable with this and decided to get paid to do what I was already doing. I thought I needed to learn more about the science of addiction and got a degree in psychology and a MS in Substance Abuse Counseling, prevention, and education. I got my LMHC and LMFT along with a substance abuse MAC and MCAP to have better answers, which also helped me in my own recovery. I have worked with chronic illness for an AIDS organization for 15 years and for the Army for 9 years working with soldiers/families with PTSD, chronic pain, TBI and co-occurring mental health issues. I have 40 years of experience in working with addictions/mental health and still find my passion in helping those that still suffer.
